5 stars for book five in the Rock Falls series features the man I have wanted to know more about since book one - Jackson Steele and the woman that makes him whole - Kennedy Cross. Two people so perfect for each other it was as if they were made for one another. Then to find out that this someone can not only accept your flaws but understand them too is what dreams are made of. Obstacles will always come up to test that resolve but the HEA will be worth it in the end.
Kennedy Cross is the younger sister of Colton Cross who we met and loved previously, she is also a first grade teacher at Rock Falls elementary school. This beautiful yet sheltered woman has a very organized and precise life but still subjects herself to blind dates by well meaning friends in the hopes she will find "the one". Check lists and reminder notes are what her neat little world is filled with until one scared, quiet little boy comes into her classroom and warms her heart. What she didn't expect was that this little boy's father would be the man that stole her heart and made all her dreams come true.
Jackson Steele is a man we have known and loved for quite some time while we got to know all the others in Rock Falls. Seemingly out of the blue a six year old boy shows up on his door step with a birth certificate claiming to be his child. Ryker Jackson Steele is literally the mini version of Jackson but it breaks his heart knowing that he lost so much time with his boy and that his mother obviously neglected the malnourished child in thread bare clothing. Jackson fights to stay out of "the black" at this revelation and fights tooth and nail to create a home for this little boy from day one. Jackson knows his bi-polar disorder with manic episodes ( the black) is when Ryker was conceived yet he will never let his boy feel unloved or unwanted again regardless of what his mother told him. Then as luck would have it his son happens to have the hottest teacher and he has no qualms about claiming her.
Ryker Jackson Steele is the cutest, blonde hair, green eyed little boy. He is a miniature version of his father Jackson and can't wait to get big and strong like he is. All the times he was at the park and would see families he would hope that one day he would have that too and now he does. Jackson taught him how to ice skate and Kenzie took him for swimming lessons plus he has grandparents now too. All of Ryker's wishes came true when he came to live with his dad.
This book is one of my favorite in the series since it features two obviously flawed characters that aren't perfect by any means but they are so perfect for each other it is inspiring. The way these two love each other is real and deep and to include a six year old in the mix is what relationships nowadays are truly like. Rarely do you NOT see single parents out there in the dating world and the real life experiences of car seats and babysitting just added to my enjoyment of this book. This author grows with each book she writes and you can obviously tell her heart and soul are on these pages. Can't wait for the next visit to Rock Falls :)
