Chance of a Lifetime by Marissa Clarke
(Anderson Brothers #3)
Published by: Entangled: Lovestruck
Publication date: November 16th 2015
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Synopsis:
Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.
Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.
Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing Spin the Bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.
Review:
Chance of a Lifetime is a sweet and sexy 5 star romance. This was my first book by Marissa Clarke, and it definitely won’t be my last. The chemistry between Chance and Gen is obvious from the very beginning. These two also share a very sweet friendship, and the fun way they interacted made it hard for me to put this book down during those pesky moments when life interfered. I definitely recommend picking up this book. It is part of a series, but I had no trouble reading it as a standalone, and I now plan to read the other books.
Gen has been completely blind her entire life, and she has had to deal with a very over-protective family who think she needs to be looked after in every aspect of her life. Let me tell you, I wanted to reach through the pages and smack some sense into her older brother. Despite this, Gen manages to grow into a very capable woman, and I think that was largely because Chance, her older brother’s friend, didn’t treat her that way. Gen is fun and mostly confident, even if she started this book with a few issues to work through.
What’s not to love about Chance? He’s sexy, loyal, and fun. Overall, he’s the perfect book boyfriend. Chance stayed away from Gen after a terrible accident that her family blamed him for. When all the details of this finally came out, I was a little annoyed that he hadn’t stood up for himself and explained the truth earlier, but I still loved him. He let Gen try new things and have adventures while still doing his best to keep her safe. Did I mention sexy? Good, because it needed to be mentioned twice.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
