Micah and I climb into his truck and he starts it up, but we just sit in the parking lot for a few moments in comfortable silence.
“You’re not what I was expecting, Chuck.”
I narrow my eyes at him. “Oh yeah? What were you expecting?”
He shrugs before giving me a shy smile. “I don’t know . . . someone snooty and prissy, I guess. But that’s not you. At least, not that I can see.”
“You think you’ve got me all figured out?”
Barking out a laugh, he replies, “No, not at all. Just makin’ an observation.”
His eyes are a little too focused on me and the air inside his truck is a little too thin. I clear my throat and face forward, causing Micah to take the hint to put the truck in drive.
Once my heart has slowed to a normal rate, I decide to try to have a normal conversation while learning more about Micah at the same time. “So, what was it like growing up on a plantation?”
“It’s just a house, Dani.”
“A very large house,” I counter.
“True, and it’s special to me because it’s been in my family for so long, but I wasn’t raised with a silver spoon in my mouth, if that’s what you’re wonderin’. The Landrys are no better than anyone else. Believe me, my mama would’ve tanned our hides if we ever tried to act like we were—”
“Snooty or prissy?”
Does this book center around the South? YES! Mainly Louisiana and the way the locals are a tad bit laid back and have a different outlook on life. Am I am local girl from Louisiana who gravitated towards this book for that reason?.... Well I am a sucker for any romance novel that centers around my neck of the woods and the main character is a Ginger (like me), but this story is not only phenomenal because of it's location (OK so I am partial,sue me!) but the way the authors captured the certain way of life that we live is outstanding. Something about the South just makes you want to take your time and relax. Maybe it's the horrific humidity that bogs you down or maybe it just the friendliness of everyone that show you that there are still good people out there.
Newly fired from her boring job, she soon discovers that her boyfriend of 4 years is going on vacation.....ALONE. Who does that? However her saving grace comes in as a call from her BFF, who offers her a freelance photography job in Louisiana. With no job and no money, Dani decides this is just what she needs.
Pulling up to the Landry Plantation, Dani meets it's colorful residents and all those childhood feelings start to come into focus. However the one colorful character Dani wasn't prepared for was Micah Landry, the local Playboy. Micah is the typical Southern Gentleman, well in front of his momma he is, but everything about his oozes sexiness. From his eyes, his accent, to his love of LSU t-shirts this man has it and whats worst is that he knows it. Every girl in town is after him but with the "no strings attached" mentality, Micah is only looking for something fun and easy going, until he meets Dani. Something about her makes him want to actually start something. Well, whatever "Something" is. Nut can this ladies man take is slow, when he finds out what Dani has going on back in New York?
Sparks fly between these two and the quick whit and banter between them is hysterical. Mix in a great bunch of supporting characters (who stories we hopefully be written SOON)and you got a recipe of success. Micah is such the typical Southern Boy, that is brings back memories of some of the guys I went to school with. And just reading the description of his actions and some of the things he does in the book just makes me smile. I do have to say that there is no explicit sex scenes in this book and the romance level is tastefully done. I am not going to lie and say I don't' like a good gritty scene but the amount of sweetness that came from Mr. Landry could make any Yankee move below the Mason Dixon Line.
Well done ladies, this NOLA girl has found herself a new favorite book boyfriend and a book that is worthy of rereading.

Well, let's see...
What some people don't know is there are two of us and we're both Jennifers. How lucky are we? The most common name from the 70's! Our parents were so original.
We found each other through Twilight and tornadoes. Sounds like a crazy combination, but it's true. We were roaming around in the same groups of people on social media, but we hadn't really became friends. But that all changed on a stormy Oklahoma night when we noticed that we were both experiencing the same tornado warnings.
We met a week later for lunch and the rest is history. We already knew we had the whole Twilight thing in common, but what we learned that day is that we both loved music and traveling. Together, we've been everywhere. Well, not everywhere, but a lot of places...Seattle, Forks, LA, New York, Chicago, Philly, Nashville, and New Orleans, where our hearts reside.
About six months after we met, we also realized we both had a passion for writing. When we started outlining our first story, we thought that would be it. One story and done. So, we dumped everything we loved into those 100,000 words. If you're familiar with the term "crack fic", that was kind of what it was for us. We had fun with it and let ourselves live on those pages.
But it was like Lays potato chips.
We couldn't write just one.
So, twenty stories later, here we are--publishing our first novel. And how crazy is it that we went back to the beginning.
