LOL here I am to confess my sins , I feel so disturbed when I 5 star this kind of dark and twisted craziness !! Clarissa really brings out the crazy side of me. This story was slightly different for me and it honestly only made it better !! I have enjoyed all her dark/twisted/crazy and this was really a no brainer BUT once you dig into Marcus and really see who he is , why he did what he did and why he is who he is - WOW , so ok maybe he is still horrible BUT geez have a heart - I loved him. Many things in this story may be hard for some - there is master/slave relationships , torture , kidnapping , murder LOL anything twisted you may find so be warned.
Marcus is not happy with one of his associates , we really have no clue why but he is determined to buy and own this one particular slave. Once he makes the transaction we find that his plans may not be that of a normal Master. Master Marcus not only allows his slave to speak freely and act freely but he also gives her a name - Ava. Ava has been trained since the age of 7 when she witnessed a horrific scene and was then sold, she pleases her master no matter the cost. Little care or concern has ever been given for her feelings or life. Now she is torn between wanting to please Master Marcus and accepting the freedom he is attempting to give her. Regardless there is a sexual tension and you know you want it to explode. Is it wrong for Marcus to want and use Ava ?? Ava doesn't care , she has only ever known this life and her feelings towards her new Master seem different. With the story unfolding we see Marcus is trying to right some wrongs that may not be fixable yet he is determined to give freedom to Ava. It is both weird and exciting to be in their world daily . I was shocked by a few things happening to Marcus and was also intrigued when Daniel was added to the mix. Despite the few M/F/M scenes , which were super hot, you can almost see that Marcus is trying to provide chances for Ava to be human and feel. Does he love her ?? I felt he did but due to his circumstances he was hiding he couldn't act on it. Therefore he not only attempted to save Daniel but provide the chance for Ava to love someone she could actually be with. It was all bittersweet and slightly twisted LOL !! Then comes the revelations and secrets and WOW, once the ending unfolds I was not ready. The emotion was strong , confusing and tragic. Does everyone get their HEA , hardly but some get a fighting chance for things they never thought possible. The box , the notebook, the gifts and the legacy will blow you away !!
Not everyone will get this book but I could really appreciate the deeper story here and aside from all the master/slave stuff there really was a story of love - just a love in Clarissa's dark and twisted way !!
