As a reader, I'm always searching for a book that will completely grab my attention. With B.B. Reid's Broken Love series, I got exactly what I was looking for...times five!
This is a series that absolutely must be read in sequence. Starting with Fear Me, the series continues with Fear You, Fear Us, Breaking Love and Fearless.
Writers start out with the same set of 26 letters in the alphabet. What they do with those letters sets them head and shoulders above the rest. Author B.B. Reid has created a story filled with the very best of times...and the very worst of times. It's a romantic story that should probably have a warning label that this is not your typical boy meets girl and lives happily ever after fairytale. No, instead there are some very dark moments.
I typically don't talk to my Kindle when I'm reading, but I seemed to develop quite a one-sided relationship with Lake, the female main character. I think I screamed at her a few times to stop acting like a victim and put on her big girl panties. A few chapters later, I sniffed as I got caught up in her emotions.
Analyzing Keiran would take pages to complete, so let me just say the author did a brilliant job creating the absolute epitome of the worst male character ever. I can't even describe the gamut of emotions that I experienced as the series progressed.
With the fifth installment, there's plenty of drama and panty-melting hotness between Lake and Keiran. Even halfway through the book, I couldn't predict how the author was going to clean up all the loose ends.
The author's talent is evident in that she was able to cobble together some sense of normalcy amid a ruin of broken characters, both the main ones and the supporting characters. I simply couldn't put this series down!
