Book Description:

A tough cop with an even tougher past, Hunter Sloan has never let anyone stop him from getting what he wants—and he wants Evangeline Ambrose bad. With her gentle curves and raw vulnerability, Hunter’s beautiful, mysterious new neighbor awakens his protective side. Determined to do right by a woman who’s gone through hell and back, Hunter could be the one to take away the pain—so long as his own secrets don’t sink their relationship before it begins.

Having escaped an abusive marriage, Evangeline simply wants to start over in the small, quiet town of Forrestville. She’s also avoiding all contact with the opposite sex, because she just can’t trust her instincts when it comes to men—not even with the sinfully sexy cop next door. So why can’t she stop thinking about him? Hunter has darkness in his soul, and yet no one ever made her feel so safe. For all her best laid plans, Evangeline didn’t count on choices this hard—or temptation this hot.

REVIEW

Book three in the Take The Fall series has been my favorite of the series by far and while this is a beautifully written romance that MV is known for writing she also tackles the serious subject of domestic violence so obviously there are some triggers that could occur. While this book has interconnecting characters to the two previous ones it could be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Evangeline Ambrose is new to the town of Forrestville having moved here after barely surviving an abusive marriage. While having physically healed the mental scars run very, very deep for her and she prefers to avoid the male gender on a whole to play it safe. The last thing Evangeline needs is her very tempting and sexy neighbor testing her resolve to avoid men and all the trouble they seem to bring her but this one seems to just get under her skin...

Hunter Sloan is a police office and deals with domestic violence and family disputes all the time but six months ago he helped a woman who's husband beat her pretty badly and while she got out of that situation he can't seem to get her out of his head. Six months later while his new neighbor moves in he is shocked to realize it is the women he helped all those months ago but she wants nothing to do with him. Hunter doesn't give up too easily and pursues Evangeline with just enough determination to make him not seem like a creeper. Finally she succumbs to his charms and they seem happy but he is holding something back that could ruin everything and cause Evangeline to bolt...

This series is just getting better and better and I can't wait for the next installment :)
