Cassandra's Review of Wild Aces by Marni Mann ~ RELEASE DAY BLITZ ~

Wild Aces Synopsis
Trapper Montgomery
His darkness drew me in.
A mystery with a past I wanted to solve.
He was cold, like ice, but set me on fire.
A heat I hadn't felt in ages.
But when I saw his face, I burned...
In mourning
Again.

Brea Bradley

She melted from my voice--shuddered from my touch.
But trembled from the memories
That my face brought back.
She wanted more...
Maybe even him.
I wasn't the hand she counted on.
But I was what she was dealt...

A Wild Ace with no way to win

REVIEW

Wild Aces is a sexy 4.5 star read. The chemistry between Brea and Trapper is scorching from their first meeting and that chemistry continues to keep things hot throughout the book. Marni Mann did an absolutely fantastic job building sexual tension between these two, until I knew things were going to be explosive between them. Of course, this was more than just a sexy read; there was a sweet story behind it all. The dialogue flowed nicely, and the story was well-paced. Overall, a great read, but I would have liked to see a little more resolution with Cody’s parents. I will warn you that the first chapter of this book is very disturbing and contains a graphic description of child abuse. This is relevant to the story, but it may be a trigger for some readers.

Brea lost her boyfriend in a terrible accident two years ago and she’s just now moving forward with her life. When she meets Trapper at a masquerade party, she is drawn to him without seeing his face. These two build on that attraction without seeing each other’s faces, and let me tell you, their phone calls are HOT. When Brea finally sees Trapper’s face, she is more than a little shocked at what she finds. I loved Brea’s character. She is sweet, funny, and loyal. Seeing her move on from her loss while helping Trapper solve the mystery of his past, made me love her even more.

Trapper suffered horrible abuse the first twelve years of his life, but he survived. Now, he’s a professional poker player with an unusual side business—you’ll have to read the book to learn more about the side business. All he knows when he meets Brea is that she’s a woman he’s very attracted to, so he is just as shocked as her when he finds out she has a connection to his past.  Trapper definitely has that sexy as sin quality. He’s got a little bit of the bad boy vibe going on, but he’s still a good guy at hear. Overall, he is perfect book boyfriend material.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
