One family of five... One life-altering tragedy... Three survivors. Each of the Mason siblings takes the outcome of the devastation three completely different ways.
When you live with a lifetime of lies, secrets, and regret over time it eats away at everything inside until all you’re left with is a cold, empty heart that’s fractured into a million pieces.
Stephen Mason has lived with not only one, but two life-shattering secrets since the day a car accident claimed the lives of his parents, left his brother impaired, and led his sister down a destructive path.
His number one rule since the accident: never let anyone get close…
He only destroys the lives of anyone who gets close to him. He’s distanced himself from his siblings and the possibility of love. He’s accepted the cruel punishment of being alone with his secrets until the day he dies.
But fate may have other plans…
Maddy Malone has lived her entire life knowing the fact that she was unwanted. Given up at birth, she bounced around the foster care system until she was eighteen. She’s learned to guard her feelings and protect her heart.
Good things are only meant for special people. When they happen to unspecial people, there are always consequences.
Two wrongs don’t make a right, but can two broken people make one whole?
When you’ve given up hope and have retreated inside yourself…
Can one truly speak…Love?

AMIE'S 5 STAR REVIEW

WOW - this may have been my favorite of them all - mostly because we can finally see happiness for the whole family and there were a few very joyful moments and a ton of healing that, although I loved River and Kate's books, just wasn't possible until now. This family has been through so much and although it has been years their wounds have barely healed and some still have secrets and need help getting past that horrible day so many years ago.

This is Stephen's story, he is the oldest son , the one who begged and pleaded to get his way out of this family vacation , he was 15 and had better things to do. Most of us have been there , there is that span of time where your friends are more important and parents are your enemy - all the time. Sadly for Stephen his actions towards his father and the words he said to his mother can never be taken back. The guilt he has lived with is horrible. On top of that he has 2 very big secrets that he has never told anyone. He has distanced himself from his siblings and become very much alone with his work. But then we have Maddy... She is Kate's best friend and she works with Joss and Nina as a personal chef. She is a bit strange , her past has made her feel unwanted and she questions any happiness that comes her way. There is a strange pull , an electric current drawing her and Stephen together but neither one thinks it is a good idea. I have to say it would be a GREAT idea !! These two together just seems so nice and I love their banter and their odd interactions at first. As we get deeper into the story and things develop we can see that Stephen has a lot of work to do within his family to right wrongs and move on. Opening up to Maddy was so easy for him BUT too much for her and this creates a big problem that involves everyone and brings many things to light. When you think this family cannot possibly take anymore they are handed just enough to make them snap. Will they all recover from this day of events ?? Can Maddy and Stephen find happiness ?? Will the Mason family finally be a family again ??

A great story , full of emotions and the heat is rewarding !! I enjoy reading this authors work very much and look forward to what comes next...
