As far back as I can remember, I pushed away those ugly demons looping their venom around my brain.

AMIE'S 5 STAR REVIEW

AMAZING - I will start by saying I once again dropped the ball and did not read the first 2 books in the series yet. I don't see it posted anywhere that it is a series of standalones BUT I also feel like due to each book being about a different guy I am OK. Regardless I will be reading the rest SOON.

Nick and Blaire's story is heartbreaking. Nick had such a horrible upbringing and his father is an actual monster. Blaire's story really breaks when Nick takes off on their special night. Hard to review without spoilers so I can just say this book is full of suspense , drama , violence and HOTNESS. It links  the Diamonds and gives us more amazing men fighting for their families. Not a moment in this book was I let down. I enjoyed every bit even when I was hanging on the edge of my seat. Not only is this book about vengeance and settling a score but it is all about a second chance with love. Nick and Blaire may have spent 14 years apart but time and distance has done nothing to lessen the love they feel. It may take time and they may encounter many obstacles BUT they will get their HEA !!

If it was years ago and I was not a blogger this review would simply say WTF and OMG WOW over and over again !! What did I just read...

As the story starts off you think Rainey is this sorry little broken soul but you find out pretty quick she is a colorful story spinner. Her past is horrifying and sad , the lack of self respect is disgusting and you can't help but question her sanity BUT you end up wrapped in her story and hoping she comes out on top. I don't envy Justin , his job is tough and trying to get to the bottom of Rainey's story is almost impossible. The story is told in dual POV also going from past to present. Rainey doesn't just give Justin the story of the night the party/murders happened , no she gives him the story from day 1 of moving into that neighborhood. At times Rainey's actions with Rowan's brothers made me sick, it was a bit much. I never gave up reading because I NEEDED to know what the heck happened and who it was killing everyone. Could it be Rainey ?? I mean I did have some great thoughts on what was going on but it wasn't until the end that I actually settled on one which happened to be right. 

“No, Rainey. Let me look at you. I love looking at you. Even when I close my eyes, all I see is you.”

I dropped my arms, my legs trembling. This was Rowan, the sweet, kindhearted boy I loved. Yet, in that moment I feared him. The adrenaline was wearing off and I was suddenly so cold.

His lips parted as he stared at me, those blue eyes I knew so well slowly taking in my body as heat blazed behind them. He’d grown so large, twice my size at least, and it had never occurred to me how strong he was until now. Nobody would pick on him anymore. Not without getting their asses handed to them in a fight.

“Can I touch you, Rainey?” His eyes lifted to mine. “Is that all right? For me to touch you?”

“Always,” I whispered, unable to put any strength in my voice. “You can always touch me.”

He stepped forward and I stepped back out of instinct. He would never hurt me. Not Rowan. But what I saw in him now was the predator that had always lingered just beneath the surface. He wasn’t a monster like his family or David. Not him. He was something else entirely.

Pain shot through his eyes when I moved, his hands fisting at his sides. “Do I scare you now?”

Shaking my head, I forced my mouth to move. “No. It’s just -“

“Just what?”

“You’re different, Rowan. A man, I guess. You’ve grown.”

Blue eyes held mine, the darkness in them seeping away, but not entirely. His lips pulled into a tight smile. “You need a man. I’ve become exactly what you need. For you, Rainey. Not anybody else. Just for you.”

I drew in a rattling breath. “Touch me.”

Rowan moved forward and I held my ground, craning my neck to look up at him. He was shaking, his skin so cold that I knew I had to fix him somehow. “Rowan?”

“Yeah?”

“Will you kiss me?”

Being novella length - which I knew - it is 3.5-4 just because that is normally the highest I do for novella length. I look forward to more from this collection and usually once I have read it all I do an overall rating too !! I have no worries that this dark collection will leave me feeling fulfilled !! This is just the kind of dark and twisted I love when I need a pick me up and some excitement !! Perfect to read during the down time I had at my daughter's volleyball tourney LOL. I kept looking over my shoulder making sure nobody was seeing WHAT I was reading...

Erik is sick and twisted to say the least. His desires , his addictions, the fact he has a fiance and respected job all to keep the normal appearances. I honestly had no clue how their lives would all wrap together and the connections in all the twisted ways were great. Alice has a pretty crappy life and she really is looking for escape. Her chances come in form of a pleasant email offer for some help BUT Alice doesn't realize what she is getting into. It may seem far fetched at times but that gives it more appeal. I can't wait to see what comes next and I am sad to see Alice go BUT maybe we will see her again ??

Meet Author Ker Dukey 

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bedtime stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my

mind was too active… I would want to change the script. I would watch films and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so I thought it best that I tell my own.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made of light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
