REVIEW
This is book six in the 69 bottles series and while we are well into a fabulous series it could be read as a stand-alone but consider starting at the beginning just for fluidity with the characters and since it truly is a great series. Calvin and Eric otherwise known as Mouse and Peacock are the guitar and bass player for 69 bottles respectively. While the guys have been the best of friends since meeting in college it hasn't been until recently when their friendship starts to change. Watching the other members of the band find their HEA convinced Eric to re-evaluate his life and after much consideration he "comes out" completely to his family/friends/band. Eric was accepted and embraced by all those he loved except for the one person that he hoped and prayed loved him back - Calvin.
Calvin (Mouse) Caldwell grew up on a farm in Iowa with a single alcoholic father that used him as a punching bag since his mother died and Calvin was the only one he could beat up on. Once Calvin was old enough to do the farm work his father backed way off until the day he caught him in a compromising position in the barn with another young man. Calvin's dad is literally what nightmares are made of and his bigotry and ignorance of Calvin's preferences was heartbreaking. The amount of abuse he suffered at the hands of a parent, the person tasked with caring for and loving you was beyond what anyone one person should ever have to endure. Then when the abuse his father doled out didn't work he sought "other" more aggressive methods to fix Calvin that not only physically harmed him but they emotionally broke him too. Now the one person he has been in love with for as long as he can remember is not even an option for him anymore.
Eric Peacock Richardson is considered to be the laid back one in the band, happily performing with his friends each night but since he has declared his sexual preferences he hoped and prayed he would be able to be with the man he loved but it hasn't been the case. Eric has wanted Calvin forever but the last time he made a move it was met with mixed results and never discussed again. So Eric hooks up with randoms hoping to make Calvin jealous all while hating himself afterwards. Eric knows that if Calvin just gives them a chance they would be perfect together but convincing him to even try will be half the battle. Eric refuses to give up not only on the man he loves but on his friend too...
Wow this book drew so many emotions from me one minute I would be crying for the heartache then I would be cheering for the milestones to say I felt a bit bi-polar would be an understatement. The amount of research the author had to have done in order to write this book had to have been significant since it was so detailed and precise. To realize that this day and age people still feel that being different is NOT normal astounds me. I loved that this book brought light to just some of the things that have been done in the past and could still be going on now all because someone else decides what is acceptable. I applaud this author for not only writing the most thought provoking, well written M/M romance I have ever read but this series on a whole is literally what TOLERANCE is all about :)

It is from Glendale, Arizona that Zoey Derrick, a mortgage underwriter by day and romance and erotica novelist by night, writes stories as hot as the desert sun itself. It is this passion that drips off of her work, bringing excitement to anyone who enjoys a good and sensual love story.
Not only does she aim to take her readers on an erotic dance that lasts the night, it allows her to empty her mind of stories we all wish were true.
Her stories are hopeful yet true to life, skillfully avoiding melodrama and the unrealistic, bringing her gripping Erotica only closer to the heart of those that dare dipping into it.
The intimacy of her fantasies that she shares with her readers is thrilling and encouraging, climactic yet full of suspense. She is a loving mistress, up for anything, of which any reader is doomed to return to again and again.
