Jill's Review of Drifter by Bella Jewel

Series: MC Sinners Next Generation #2
Author: Bella Jewel
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: March 21, 2016

Blurb

They say opposites attract.
In my world that isn’t a good thing.
I did everything I could to escape the motorcycle club I grew up in when I turned twenty-one.
It wasn’t about fear, or betrayal, or even lack of love.
I just needed my own life.
I had to know how it felt to stand on my own two feet without their protection.
Then I met Diesel.
Mysterious, dark, with eyes that screamed to be understood.
From the second I met him, I knew I needed to be in his life.
There’s just one problem – he’s a member of a different motorcycle club.
Two things that should never be combined.
Yet I can’t stay away. No matter how hard he pushes. I can see beyond his mask.
I need to know who he is and I’ll overcome any obstacle to be in his life.
A friendship is born, followed by an epic love.
Our relationship is forbidden.
But I’ll do anything to be in his life.
Anything.

REVIEW

Drifter is the second book in the MC Sinners : Next Generation series and it was just as good as the first book but for completely different reasons. While this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone without missing much and it features the children of club members we have met in the author's previous books.

Mercedes is so glad to be headed to Colorado for college and far away from the MC life she grew up in. Not that she doesn’t love her family because she does very much but she never wanted any part of the club or her father Spike’s over-protective craziness. This will be the first time Mercedes is out on her own and she can’t wait for the small amount of new found freedom she will have. Mercedes has fun and meets both nice and not-so-nice people on campus but her elation is quickly deflated when she realizes a jerk she met at a concert not only attends the same college as her but is in the same classes too. The “jerk” is beyond rude to her but his evil girlfriend has made it her mission to attack Mercedes until she fights back. Mercedes and the jerk finally decide to be friends but once she discovers who he is it changes everything…

Diesel wants to finish school and play in his band, no where in his hopes and dreams does it say he wants to take over the Joker’s Wrath MC once Maddox steps down. He feels trapped and isolated but doesn’t want to let his family down any more than he already has. Seemingly out of the blue this crazy, blonde angel wants to force him to be her friend. Mercedes is way too good for him and has no idea what his life or family is like nor does he want to subject her to that stuff. She refuses to take no for answer though and damn if he wants to keep being mean to her when all he wants to do is hold her in his arms and promise her things he doesn’t believe in anymore…

This was such a great story of two kids who are NOT a part of MC life having to live with the politics within. Loved how everyone banded together when times got tough and worked through the issues at hand. Hope like heck Skye and Danny are next cause those two need to tell us their story :)
