Amie's Review of Jamison by Niquel ~ RELEASE BLITZ ~ GIVEAWAY ~

Title: Jamison
Series: Spasm Rockers #1
Author: Niquel
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: September 21, 2016

Some people call it puppy love,

But I know the truth.

Even though we were kids, too young to know better,
I knew.
I was absolutely head-over-heels in love with Cody Jamison.
There wasn’t a moment in my life that he wasn’t a part of.
There wasn’t a part of me that didn’t belong to him.
And just as I was about to tell him…
He left.
Left town.
Left me.
Shattering my heart into pieces.
But now, he’s back.
Just like that.
But, we’re no longer those bright-eyed little kids we once were.
He just re-emerged,
Claiming a spot as the lead guitarist in my brother’s band,
As if nothing ever changed.
But it did.
Everything's different now.
And I won't let this asshole strum his way back in,
Reclaiming my heart,
Not without an explanation.
He’s going to have to work for it,
For me.
Cody Jamison can’t have me,
Until I have the truth.

"This book will take you on an awesome roller coaster of emotions from the very beginning to the last page." ~Victoria, 5 Star Goodreads Review

"This is my first book by author Niquel, but it definitely will not be my last! I absolutely loved the story of Cody (CJ) and Shannon!" ~Penny, 5 Star Goodreads Review

“Oh my God, Shan, quit being a wuss!”
“I can't, it's too high!” I yelled down at my brother, who was safe on the ground. I don’t know why I let him talk me in to doing stupid things like this.
“C’mon, Shanny, just put your foot in the holes and jump when you get to the last one,” CJ egged on.
Anytime he was around and asked me to do something, the fear inside of me went away. “Okay.”
One.
Two.
Three.
“Ouch!”
“Holy crap, are you all right?” My brother asked, as the sky spun behind his and CJ’s heads.
“My head hurts really bad.”
“Dang, I’ll go and get Mom. Can you stay with her, CJ?” He nodded his head, and then helped me sit up. He kept looking at me funny with his eyes; eyes that were the color of chocolate.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I was looking at the small dots across your face. What are they?”
I placed my hands over my face, and rubbed my cheeks, wishing they would come off. “My mommy calls them ‘freckles’ and I hate them.”
“Why?”
"Because people are always teasing me about them. Mom said I got them from being in the sun too much."
"So let's call them sun kisses! The sun loved your face so much, it left little kisses behind."
I giggled so hard, that it made my head hurt more. CJ was almost thirteen, like my older brother, but he made me feel fuzzy inside.

I have to make a note this is a 3.5 stars review not a 3 star. I enjoyed the story line and flew through the book but I did have a few issues that held me back from making it a 4 star read.  Anyone who follows my reviews knows I love the childhood friends in love story - even better when it is your big brothers best friend !! Then to have the separation last years and now as adults coming face to face - I can't ever say no to that BUT a few things should have stood out more and taken more time while other things may have been able to take a backseat. Regardless of that I am excited to see where the series goes because the other story I can't refuse is the rock star kind !!

As childhood neighbors and besties Shannon and CJ became close thanks to her brother Dean. CJ was a few years older but always there and always protecting Shannon. You could tell he adored her from the start and sadly due to family issues he was ripped away from her too soon and we were not able to enjoy any of what could have been. Now years later Dean is starting a band and CJ is back home BUT it takes a minute to realize who exactly that is trying out for the band. As great as it is to see Dean and CJ reconnect we are all waiting impatiently for Shannon and CJ to reconnect !! They get their moment and you do learn a bit about the why's and where's of CJ's past 10 or so years. CJ had been a manwhore and that usually doesn't bug me BUT with their past and the love and connection still being so strong I was kind of put off by his behavior in the midst of him and Shannon figuring things out. At times it bothered me more and I just wasn't sure in the end about the impact it had. I was happy Shannon and CJ could figure things out and have their chance but had my moments of wishing she just kicked him to the curb. Then when his real reasonings for leaving come back to haunt him I felt it went a little bit too fast. I wanted more - more details - more action/suspense. It was a great twist and I think it could have been expanded into so much more. Again all in all I enjoyed the book , the story lines and of course cannot wait to see what comes next - some juicy stories have been building on the side !!
