Meant to Be
By Laramie Briscoe

As a native of western Kentucky, I was drawn to the Heaven Hill series. Author Laramie Briscoe delivers a series full of MC drama and action. The first story in the series, Meant to Be, focuses on Liam and Denise.

Since this is the first installment, the author had to pack in plenty of details to set the stage for an ongoing series. Conflicts with another club, run-ins with the law and family strife are only some of the features.

I had a difficult time really gaining a solid connection to the characters. I admired Denise's tenacity to survive as a single mother, but the rapid pace in which she accepted Liam's help and his lifestyle didn't seem to make much sense. By the time the story had developed, she easily adapted to life within the club without the earlier protectiveness.

From a heat standpoint, there was chemistry between Liam and Denise, but it didn't have the same kind of intensity that was evident between other couples featured in the story.

Meredith Rager has already established her career as a television reporter. She's hot on the trail of a story that will expose the Heaven Hill MC when tragedy strikes.

In the second installment of the Heaven Hill series, the author delivers a phenomenal story about two broken people who unknowingly need each other in order to be complete.

Tyler Blackfoot has a soft spot for Meredith that puts the MC in jeopardy. Their shared passion is off the charts as they dance around the attraction. He wants to help Meredith heal after the tragedy -- one that may trigger some negative feelings for sensitive readers. The author handled the scene and the aftermath well with just enough information to get the point across.

I really liked the pairing of these two characters because Meredith was such a strong woman before the incident. Seeing how Tyler handled the aftermath demonstrated his strength.

Losing Control

Author Laramie Briscoe turns her sights onto Jagger Stone, a newly patched member of the Heaven Hill MC, in Losing Control.

The drama level heats up in the third installment of the series as the MC faces a more difficult adversary. A relationship unfolds between Jagger and Bianca Hawks.

I found Bianca's character to be an interesting combination since she waitresses at a strip club yet is trying hard to make a better life for herself. She and Jagger create a fiery combination that heats up as danger unfolds.

Of the couples featured in the series, these two are probably my favorite. They are both full of adventure and excitement. I was also impressed with the development of the MC by this point in the series. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept my attention.

Worth the Battle
By Laramie Briscoe

For the fourth installment of the Heaven Hill series, author Laramie Briscoe pairs up a coupled with a shared past.

Layne O'Connor has plenty of baggage from his service in the military. He's not quite the same man that Jessica Shea used to know, but she still trusts him to keep her safe. Their relationship is not an easy one.

The author did a great job depicting Layne's battle with PTSD, demonstrating how the MC helped with the healing process. I found Jessica's occupation to be an interesting combo: movie star and secret erotica author.

Like other installments in the series, there's plenty of chemistry between the characters. Add in a solid mix of drama and this story fits in well with the others.

Dirty Little Secret
By Laramie Briscoe
4 stars

Of the books in the Heaven Hill series, this one seems to have the most depth in the storyline.

The fact that Christine has a background dealing with a cult-like religion was intriguing and piqued my interest. While I was extremely surprised to see her paired up with Travis Steele, it eventually made sense. I was under the mistaken impression that because he was so quiet, he wasn't a strong character. There was a lot more happening beneath the surface.

This was a powerful story for secrets. As with anything, some secrets tend to be painful when revealed. The author did a great job setting up the drama for the story to play out.

Second Chance at Love
By Laramie Briscoe
4 stars

From the first time she appeared early in the series, I was hoping that Roni Walker would get her chance at a happy ending.

In Second Chance at Love, Roni and a former boyfriend get another shot at happiness. Both characters have been featured throughout the series, so this was a perfect opportunity to develop their story. Pairing the MC princess with a local lawman created all sorts of delicious scenarios.

One of the biggest drawing points of this installment is that it is so easy to relate to. Everyone has a "should a, could a" moment, but not everyone gets the chance for a do over. This couple gets to make the choice after almost two decades, even though there is an MC standing between them.

I loved the flashbacks to the past to help provide a solid history. Full of intense emotion, this was among my favorite installments.

Rough Patch

Interestingly enough, all is not always perfect when a story ends. In this installment of the Heaven Hill series, Jagger and Bianca deal with some challenges. It's rather impressive that the author chose to revisit a couple from an earlier story, especially to highlight a rocky situation.

Although this was a novella, it made an important contribution to the series. I found it to be just the right mix of hot and spicy while delivering a good story.

Beginning of Forever
By Laramie Briscoe
3 stars

One of the interesting aspects of the seventh installment in the Heaven Hill series is that it features a double storyline.

While the bulk of the focus is on Tyler and Meredith (featured in the second book), there's also an emphasis on the budding relationship between Dalton and Mandy.

I did find it strange that the real drama didn't start until almost three quarters of the way into the story. I had expected it much sooner, but the focus was on the daily lives of the characters.

I found this story to be a good one, but it would have been better if the action had been in a different sequence. I do recommend that this series be read in order to get a solid understanding of the characters.

This installment of the Heaven Hill series takes a different direction than previous books in the series.

Drew Walker was just a teenager in the first book. Now, time has passed since he and Charity Thomas were together. In spite of the time apart, the chemistry is still evident.

From start to finish, this story had a different flavor compared to the other hardcore MC stories. While there is still plenty of drama, it provided a fresh look at the club.

I liked the aspect of developing the story around events featured earlier in the series because it created a good sense of continuity.
