Title: In the Red
Series: Devil's Due MC #1
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Genre: MC Romance
The event that shook one small town to its core was never solved. The domino effect of one person’s crime going unpunished is beyond measure.
He’s no saint.
Dover ‘Collector’ Ragnes rides with only five brothers at his back. Nomads with no place to call home, they never stay in one place too long. Together, they are the Devil’s Due MC, and their only purpose is to serve justice their way for unsolved crimes everywhere they go.
She’s not afraid to call herself a sinner.
Emerson Flint still remembers the loss of her elementary school best friend. She is all grown up, but the memories still haunt her of the missing girl. Surrounding herself with men at the tattoo shop, she never questions her safety. Her life is her art. Her canvas is the skin of others.
However, danger is at her door.
Will Dover overcome the history he shares with Emerson in time? Will Emerson lead him to the retribution he has always sought?
Love, hate, anger, and passion collide as the time comes, and the devil demands his due.
Let me start out by saying that I have previously read and review other works by Chelsea and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Well this one didn't let me down either. In the Red is the first book in her new Devil’s Due MC series and can be read as a stand alone. Much like the other books in the series (which is told to us by the author). So it is perfect for anyone new who would like to sample her writing skills.
The Devil’s Due MC, is comprised of all nomads. No home to call their own. Just the open road and vendettas on each members mind. Each member is brought to the group of motorcycle gypsy's for their own specific reason and Dover has a good one; the death of his sister. She was just suppose to go down the street and when she never returned, Dover was riddled with guilt. Such events set the wheels in motion and Dover decides to make finding her killer his life's work. With a lead on the suspect, Dover and the gang head over to the country where the last person he would expect to see was the best friend of his kid sister.
Emerson Flint will never forget her childhood best friend. She was everything to her but when Riley went missing and later found mangled in a pipe, Emerson's childhood came to a screeching stop. Her parents were not only protective but went totally overboard and sheltered her as much as they could from the big bad monster that seemed to be in her neighborhood. But she always wondered what kind of guilt her friend's brother must have felt. Well after years of getting out of her childhood home and making a new life for herself as a tattoo artist, the last person Emerson wanted to see was the living, breathing reminder of Riley step into her shop.
Both Dover and Emerson find each other hard to be around. Not because of hate or emphatic but because each remind them of the person they lost. This story is about two tortured souls and how they each have to deal with their tragic past and come together as one.
There are some serious topics discussed in this book that is downright sad but it somehow brings to light the problems each main character deals with. The supporting cast is fantastic and provide the right amount of comic relief and emotional support at the appropriate times.
Another one knocked out of the park for Chelsea. Total 5 star read. Can't wait to see where this series is going to go.
