~~~~~*****The Empty Jar*****~~~~~
Three months touring Europe.
The trip of a lifetime.
Romantic. Dazzling. Unforgettable.
We couldn’t have known it would work out this way. No one could. No one could’ve guessed that something so beautiful could be so tragic.
But some lifetimes are shorter… But it is tragic.
It’s pain and suffering for something or someone you love.
Yet so, so beautiful. That’s what sacrifice is—beauty and tragedy.
This is our story.
And this is the ultimate sacrifice. One stunning act of true love.
Our true love story.
REVIEW
AMIE'S 5+++++++++... STAR REVIEW
I don't even know where to start. I have been a fan of this author for years but this story - this is just pure honesty and emotions - you have to have real strength to write like this and M. Leighton pulls that off beyond what I even imagined. To think I was scared to read it before I even knew any of the actual details, I knew just from the struggles she has been through that this would be an emotional read. Here I am with smeared makeup and puffy eyes trying to form words for a review.  I had to take some emotional breaks during my reading but I also think I really needed a good cry and this was a good ugly cry - more than once too. I didn't realize how much I had been holding in , this book was very healing for me.  There are more than a few connections to my life in this story and in all honesty it just blows that any of us have to deal with these things. Life is precious and so many times we get so busy and forget that.
Lena and Nate have an amazing marriage - truthfully , honestly , outright amazing. There may be a little blip at the start of this story but it didn't really register for me because I could already tell they were way too solid for that. So what starts out as a 3 month long tour of Europe ends in a life changing event that actually trumps the life changing event that spurred the trip to begin with - are you following  LOL. I was eager for their trip since I have never been to Europe I was looking forward to traveling with them, BUT once this new info came about and Lena made a choice of waiting to share the news I couldn't wait for them to get home because I just had to know how it played out. At times I thought Lena's choices were wrong BUT then again the strength she had to even make them is more than I could handle. This was where I had to start taking breaks - telling Nate - doctor appts. , telling Nissa and the list could go on. It was as beautiful as it was emotional. The bond of a true love , a real marriage - the bond of a mother and child - the memories you choose to keep with you from childhood that sometimes give you the strength to make life altering choices - again this list could go on too. And when you think the worst of the story has come just be warned the ending is even more heartwarming and heartbreaking than I expected.
We as readers are lucky when an author shares their vulnerability with us like this , it is a gift and it is what makes being part of this community of authors and readers so special !!
