Synopsis
Levi Black is an s.o.b.
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he’s a pretentious, obnoxious, womanizing jacka** who thinks the world revolves around him.
He wouldn’t be wrong.
A famous soccer player, his skills on and off the field have won him medals, trophies, women, and the cover of every heartthrob magazine in the country. He’s broken nearly every bone in his body and a few hearts along the way, including mine—his stepsister—and lived to tell about it.
One night changed everything, and I’ve avoided him like the plague ever since. Just long enough to finish college, to bury the hurt, and to outrun the memories. But now that’s all changed. I’m back, and there’s no more running.
My hands are supposed to be my livelihood, but now they’re my curse. Levi’s reckless ways have landed him in a sticky situation, and his father has given me an offer I can’t refuse. One month, and all I have to do is put my hands on his body. Easier said than done. The problem is, even though I know it’s bound to bite me in the a**, I can’t bring myself to say no to the s.o.b.
REVIEW
4 stars for a forbidden romance between step-siblings that was done very well considering all the books in the "step brother" trope as of late. Vista Marquis is a newly graduated physical therapist and is looking to set up her own rehabilitation center in Ohio when she is approached by her extremely wealthy and powerful step-father about treating her step-brother's most recent injury. Levi Black is a super star soccer player for the Chicago Fire and a millionaire as well but that doesn't help his less than stellar personality when it comes to his relationship with his step-sister Vista. These two may kill each other before Levi is healed.
Vista is everything that Levi does NOT look for in a woman since she has curves and actually enjoys eating where the women he dates are all skin and bones. Vista realizes rather quickly though that Levi can still affect her just as much as he did four years ago when they decided to get together the night before their parents got married. She decides she will put up a wall and show no emotion at all to try and resist the ultimate bad boy/ladies' man but of course that is easier said than done. Vista wants to treat Levi's injuries for the next month and then move on to establishing her center but Levi has different plans in mind.
Levi Black wants for nothing in life since being a super star athlete that is outrageously wealthy and insanely attractive seems to grant all his wishes. His most recent injury having sidelined him for over a month leaves him actually anticipating the arrival of the one person that doesn't do his bidding or give a hoot who he is. His step-sister Vista gets to him like no women has ever done and there is just something about her that calls to him on a fundamental level. Now that she is back in his life after four long years throwing attitude around it's like all the other women and partying don't even matter anymore because all he can see is her.
While this is under the "step-brother" trope they were not raised together nor were they even intimate until they were of legal again. This also contains the sports and millionaire playboy tropes so it is vastly unique from others of its kind. I enjoyed this book and was able to read it pretty much in one sitting it had just enough heat and drama to keep you intrigued. I will look for more books from this author in the future.
