Amie's Review of Devil You Know by L.A. Fiore ~ RELEASE BLITZ ~ GIVEAWAY ~

Title: Devil You Know
Series: Lost Boys #1
Author: L.A. Fiore
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 10, 2017

Damian Tate. One look into his sad green eyes and I was hooked. I wanted to be the one to make him laugh, to make him smile. I hadn't expected him to be the one to make me blush, to make me make me fall in love. He was my first kiss, my first love, my first everything. I wanted forever with him, but life got in the way.

He enlisted, I went to college, and for years we were never in the same place long enough to pick up where we left off.

Thirteen years after he left, tragedy brings him home. The stoic boy I fell in love with grew into a quiet, dangerous and wildly sexy man. He still tugs on all the right strings for me, but he seems determined to keep me at arm's-length.

However, when trouble comes knocking at my door, he is the one to put himself between that trouble and me.

Spending time with him might drive me insane, or it might be our second chance at first love.

I so love a second chance romance , a teen love that never let go regardless of time and space , a prologue that gives us such an emotional backstory and this story gives us all of that and more. What seems to be building as an angsty love story then twists and turns giving us suspense and danger as well.

Damien had a heartbreaking childhood and his life with his mom never got any better for him. When he met Cam , Thea and their family he saw what happiness was and was lucky enough to be loved and supported by them all. Thea and Damien's connection was instant yet there was a very slow burn that sadly ended just as it got started. Damien enlisted , Thea went off to college and although he cut all ties their love lingered on for years. It was painful to read about their years apart and the lack of communication. 13 years later Damien comes home after a family tragedy has left a threat of danger. Not knowing who it is from or why, Cam and Damien enlist help and make all attempts at keeping their family and friends safe. If you thought the time apart was brutal just wait until you read Damien's behavior when he is face to face with Thea. I do love his explanation of TRIGGERS but it takes a bit to get there. I will say it was a bit slower than I expected at this part BUT as you get to the end and the suspense and excitement grows I found myself being ok with that slow build-up. It made for some amazing sexual tension and some pretty funny scenes !! The unfolding suspense was great and there was a twist I didn't expect BUT thankfully after some edge of your seat moments we get a BEAUTIFUL epilogue and the promise for more to come !!

I swooned so hard with what Damien said about his intentions OMG
Loved how Thea liked to TRIGGER Damien
Was so happy with Razor and Mic's part in the story
Got emotional when Thea mentioned the table she had set up
My heart broke when Damien talked of the one he lost
Loved when Damien would go all honest and spill his guts about his feelings for Thea - SWOON !!

So many little things that stuck out at times I could keep listing BUT I won't...

Before I could scan the crowd for Damian, a hand wrapped around with cuts and blood on the knuckles. It was Damian and he looked pissed.

“What the fuck are you doing here?”

My heart hurt seeing his face—a cut near his left eye, blood smeared down his cheek and a blooming bruise on his jaw. “I heard you and Cam talking. I was curious.”

He had been walking me toward the exit but those words stopped him. His feet sort of rooted themselves to the concrete floor as his head turned in my direction. “So you walked here alone?”

“It wasn’t far.”

That wasn’t the right answer apparently because he hissed between his teeth. It wasn’t an actual word, just a release of frustration.

He started toward the exit again. “What are you fighting when you are out there?”

We had just reached the stairs when he pulled me behind them and pressed me up against the wall. “Come again?”

“When you fight, what are you fighting?”

“Not who am I fighting?”

“No, your opponent isn’t what you’re fighting.”

He leaned in and lowered his head to look me right in the eyes. “How do you know that?”

I gently wiped the blood from his face. “I know you.”

He had the strangest reaction to that. He closed his eyes, like he was in pain, and lowered his forehead to my shoulder. “This can’t happen.”

Those words caused a chill to move right down my spine. He was wrong. It totally could and should happen. “Why not?”

He lifted his head and for the first time I saw so much more in those eyes. “Cam is a good friend and your parents are like my own.”

His lips brushed along my jaw and I had to lock my knees to keep from sliding down the wall. “And if I did to you all the things I wanted, I couldn’t sit at their table without them knowing that I claimed every part of you.”
