Can two afflicted strangers from the dark side, help each other back to the light?
Willow Steele is a survivor - barely. Her mother was murdered in front of her. Eight years old. Nowhere and nobody to call home. Willow did what she had to in order to survive life. Alcohol. Drugs. Rehab. Faced with a straightjacket, a bare cell at Ferndale and the prospect of going cold turkey from the vices that have been keeping her alive, Willow is furious. She wants her drugs. She wants her freedom. She wants out of this place.
Hunter Edwards is an addict. Just one taste, to impress a girl, and heroin ended up taking every bit of self-control he'd ever owned. Six months later he is hooked and spiralling out of control. Break and enters, car accidents, trouble with the law. His mother and the cops sign him into Ferndale as a last resort before shipping him off to the army.
That's where he sees her. Willow. The girl in the cell. The dark haired, blue eyed angel that steals his heart.
Can Willow & Hunter help each other through the hardest fight of their lives? Or will they both fall harder than ever before?
This is a dark romance. It is not for the faint hearted. You've been warned...

AMIE'S 4 STAR REVIEW

Warning - there may be some triggers in this story - addiction , abuse , murder , details of all those things and more.

For a bit Hunter and Willow's stories read as separate. We find out about their pasts , how they got to where they are and we get some graphic details into their current downward spirals. I have to say I read a ton and for some reason the description of taking certain drugs had me cringing , such a horrible epidemic and it sucks to see how easy it is to fall into the habit. I know this is a story BUT obviously the author has done her research on the act of using and the feelings. I think Willow's past is a lot more devastating BUT she seemed to have recovered from it until she was thrown a curveball in the form of a letter. Hunter was having a hard time dealing with grief but before that he was a hardworking and loving guy/brother/son. Due to certain instances they both end up in rehab - Willow as a choice and Hunter as a choice but one that was pushed on him. The detox is horrible , the details , the pain - WOW - you feel like you are there with them. Most of the rehab stay seems realistic and as much as it is a struggle they both want to change. You hear stories from others and listen to the thoughts that plague them both. I admit their meeting and insta-love seems a bit off for the setting but it is a story and even though in real life it may not be achieved while in rehab we know it does and we don't care because this is a story and they both deserve something amazing out of it !! As smoothly as their 5 weeks go they do face a few struggles being back out in reality. I love their connection and their chemistry , they have some serious heat and again I was happy they found some happiness. There is a twist that comes around that I felt I anticipated BUT I never even thought about one aspect of that twist. CRAZY !! I think what I have enjoyed most when I read this author is that she gives you all the things you want from a good read yet you can still function feel satisfied with the ending.
