Amie's Review of Riveted by Jay Crownover ~ REVIEW TOUR ~ GIVEAWAY ~

RIVETED - header banner

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

    Riveted - cover

Everyone else in Dixie Carmichael’s life has made falling in love look easy, and now she is ready for her own chance at some of that happily ever after. Which means she’s done pining for the moody, silent former soldier who works with her at the bar that’s become her home away from home. Nope. No more chasing the hot as heck thundercloud of a man and no more waiting for Mr. Right to find her; she’s going hunting for him...even if she knows her heart is stuck on its stupid infatuation with Dash Churchill.

Denver has always been just a pit stop for Church on his way back to rural Mississippi. It was supposed to be simple, uneventful, but nothing could have prepared him for the bubbly, bouncy redhead with doe eyes and endless curves. Now he knows it’s time to get out of Denver, fast. For a man used to living in the shadows, the idea of spending his days in the sun is nothing short of terrifying. When Dixie and Church find themselves caught up in a homecoming overshadowed with lies and danger, Dixie realizes that while falling in love is easy, loving takes a whole lot more work…especially when Mr. Right thinks he’s all wrong for you.

AMIE'S 4 STAR REVIEW

Although this is a Saint's of Denver story we are taken out of Denver and brought back to Church's hometown where he has neglected to visit in 10 years. I mean really - 10 years he has spent hiding from the family that loved him and the losses he suffered.
Dixie is waiting for the one - her family has amazing love stories and yet she is still waiting for hers. The man she has her sights set on is a broody biker with a fierce duty to protect but no warmth in that protection. Could this be the start of her love story or is she pushing for something not there. I can say she thinks she is crazy for even attempting to make it known but there is a lot more to Church than we know and once we see that you get to understand him better and know that Dixie is doing the right thing.

At the start we find Dixie struggling through dating apps and weird dates. This last one is a doozy and leaves a bad taste in her mouth and a weird vibe for the readers. On top of this her sister is acting out and causing some family trouble. Dixie is a fixer and wants to do all she can to keep everyone around her happy BUT what about her ?? This is why when Church asks her for a favor she really has nothing to lose by saying yes. Who wouldn't want to spend hours on a motorcycle with this sexy alpha man and possibly learn more about him by being home with him. The sexual tension is crazy yet Church attempts to do the right thing because he thinks he shouldn't have love and that those he loves are better off without him because of the loss they have endured. Thinking like that isn't easy to crack , especially since Church is also hardened from the war. He doesn't realize how much he will need and appreciate Dixie being there with him as he attempts to mend his family and make up for lost time. Oddly enough they have a few incidents on the road and in Church's hometown that are cause for concern. Who are these attacks about ?? Initially Church assumes it is him BUT as time goes on you begin to wonder if it is something different than what Church believes. I was a bit baffled and until it came to light I was kind of a bit put off by the attacks because it didn't make sense. It does put a big twist on the story and obviously connects I just didn't even think of that being IT !! As it all ties together it makes sense how it all plays out with Church having his issues about losing people and not wanting to admit his feelings. Thankfully we have a happy ending and a promise for more to come with the next book !! I always love this author's work and look forward to being pulled into her words. She is great with description and emotion and of course dual POV is a fave of mine.
